With Respect, Benny Hinn

“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?’ And then will I profess unto them, ‘I never knew you: DEPART FROM ME, ye that work iniquity’ ” (Matt 7:22,23, KJV).

With respect, Mr Hinn, I believe you’re misleading many,
And while doing so, fulfilling biblical prophecy.
You see, these healing sessions of yours, don’t fit with Scripture,
But rather, they support an apocalyptic picture.

When Christ healed, (when He was on earth), He didn’t act like you,
Didn’t surround Himself with glamour and glitz, money too.
And never promised healing to all who’d pray and believe,
But rather, only where it was His will, thus, you deceive.

You see, our God doesn’t interfere with cause and effect,
Therefore, such healings are something that we shouldn’t expect.
God might, where it’s His will, but not wholesale — rather, rarely,
Unlike all those healings that you perform so frequently.

And for which, Mr Hinn, there’s no documented evidence,
Evidence that I would expect to be in abundance;
Bona fide doctor reports, before and after x-rays,
Testimonies from sound medical staff, that proof conveys.

Yes, where are the pages and pages that such proof display,
Or, as I suspect, would those pages the opposite convey?
After all, if these healings were genuine, it would be clear,
And the evidence plentiful, which you’d be the first to share.

Where are the healed quadriplegics, those once blind, who now see,
Those who’ve had their missing limbs restored, miraculously?
And are there any dead you’ve brought to life? Yes, dead, Benny.
Remember Dorcas, Eutychus? When will you such copy?

Folk never fell backwards when Christ healed — that’s an invention,
It’s foreign to Scripture, isn’t the Spirit’s intention.
No one was “Slain in the Spirit,” nor needed help to stand,
After seemingly being hypnotized, then pushed by a hand.

I can’t help feeling sorry for the thousands that attend,
Who, in such an undignified way, backwards soon descend.
Yes, there they lay, flat on their back, where they seem to remain,
Often amidst humorous banter, for you entertain.

God can answer their own prayers, Mr Hinn, He doesn’t need you,
They’ve direct access to Him, who’ll heal, should He decide too.
And any He would use, would be those who’re acting humbly,
Not those acting like showmen, those acting improperly.

Besides, if God healed us of our ailments each time we prayed,
He’d have lots of shallow followers — freeloaders, I’m afraid.
He’s not some Father Christmas, but a God who acts wisely,
Knowing trials and pain build character, test one’s loyalty.

Yes, that’s the reality, not these so-called healings we see,
Clothed in fanfare, surrounded by noise, even absurdity.
Such creates unfair expectations; is acting cruelly,
And no doubt leads to discouragement, eventually.

Thus, with respect, Benny Hinn, you’re leading people astray,
You’re not acting biblically, nor doing things God’s way.
Rather, you’re misleading and harming, I firmly believe,
Thus, could it be, that at Christ’s coming, you’ll have cause to grieve?

By Lance Landall

“And this is the boldness [confidence in approaching] we have in Him, that if we ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, He hears us” (1 John 5:14).

“Instead, you ought to say, ‘IF IT IS THE LORD’S WILL, we will live and do this or that [we are not to presume upon God. We cannot command healings in His name]’ ” (James 4:15, NIV).
